چکیده

Ahsrruct-It is shown that, for a ternary feedback random access channel with a Poisson arrival process, 0.5 is an upper bound to the throughput for all “degenerate intersection” algorithms (DIA’s) and firstcome first-served algorithms (FCFSA’S). As a by-product, the nested FCFSA with the largest throughput is found for the random access channel with a Bernoulli arrival process &ith parameter p. For p > 0.018, this algorithm has the highest throughput over all DIA’s and FCFSA’s. Lastly, it is shown that, for some values of p, a non-DIA, non-FCPSA has a higher throughput than the optimum DIA or FCFSA.

Identification of Hazardous Situations using Kernel Density Estimation Method Based on Time to Collision, Case study: Left-turn on Unsignalized Intersection

The first step in improving traffic safety is identifying hazardous situations. Based on traffic accidents’ data, identifying hazardous situations in roads and the network is possible. However, in small areas such as intersections, especially in maneuvers resolution, identifying hazardous situations is impossible using accident’s data. In this paper, time-to-collision (TTC) as a traffic conflic...

Improved high maximum stable throughput FCFS tree algorithms with interference cancellation

Tree algorithms form a well researched class of collision resolution algorithms for solving multiple access control problems. Signal interference cancellation, which allows one to recover additional information from otherwise lost collision signals, has recently been combined with tree algorithms, providing substantially higher maximum stable throughputs (MSTs), up to 0.693 (Yu and Giannakis, I...

Approaching Throughput-optimality in a Distributed CSMA Algorithm with Contention Resolution

It was shown recently that CSMA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access)-like distributed algorithms can achieve the maximal throughput in wireless networks (and task processing networks) under certain assumptions. One key assumption is that the sensing time is negligible, so that there is no collision. In this paper, we remove this idealized assumption by studying CSMA-based scheduling algorithms with ...

Energy-efficient MAC in ad-hoc networks inspired by conflict resolution concepts

In this paper, we address the medium access control (MAC) problem in ad-hoc networks from the energy-efficiency perspective and develop a residual-energybased collision resolution algorithm (CRA) for energy-limited terminals. In this interval-splitting-based algorithm, packets involved in a collision are partitioned into subsets according to the amount of residual battery energy left at the cor...

Stochastic bounds for a single server queue with general retrial times

We propose to use a mathematical method based on stochastic comparisons of Markov chains in order to derive performance indice bounds‎. ‎The main goal of this paper is to investigate various monotonicity properties of a single server retrial queue with first-come-first-served (FCFS) orbit and general retrial times using the stochastic ordering techniques‎.
